Mechanism of action:
It is an imidabenzodiazepine derivative and a potent benzodiazepine receptor antagonist that completely inhibits the activity of benzodiazepine recognition site on the GABA receptor there by reversing the effect of benzodiazepine on the central nervous system.
THERAPEUTIC USES:
- Useful in the patients who become excessively drowsy after benzodiazepine
- As an antidote in the treatment of benzodiazepine over dose
- Effectively used to treat non benzodiazepine hypnotics
- Such as zolpidem
- Effective in reducing excessive day time sleepiness
SIDE EFFECTS:
- Abnormal or blurred vision
- Abnormal skin sensation
- Increased sweating
- Severe allergic reactions
- Pounding in the chest
- Seizur
