Lopinavir
Mechanism of action
It inhibits the HIV viral protease enzyme.this prevents cleaveage of gag-pol polyprotein and, herefore, improper viral assembly results.
Drug-drug interaction
Lopinavir+alogliptin = efficacy of alogliptin decreases
Lopinavir+aminodaron = lopinavir increases QT prolonging activities of aminodarone
Lopinavir+barnidipine = serum concentration of barnidipine increases
Lopinavir+bepridil = metabolism of bepridil decreases
Pharmacological action
It is highly bound to plasma protein.
Side effects
Diarrhea
Abdominal pain
Nausea
Dyslipidaemias
Therapeutic uses
It is used in HIV treatment.
It is given in fixed dose with ritonavir for treatment of HIV/AIDS
