Mercaptopurine- Anticancer drugs


MERCAPTOPURINE

Description: An antimetabolite antineoplastic agent with immunosuppressant properties.
CLASS-PURINETHIONES

Uses: For remission induction and maintenance therapy of acute lymphatic leukemia.
Adverse Drug Reactions: Diarrhoea, loss of appetite, nausea, tiredness, vomiting

Drug-Drug Interactions:
Mercaptopurine + dicoumarol=decreased anticoagulant activity of dicoumarol
Mercaptopurine +allopurinol/ +febuxostat=serum concentration of mercaptopurine is increased
Mercaptopurine+azathioprine= increased myelosuppressive activities
