Description:
It is an amantadine derivative with low to moderate-affinity for NMDA receptors. It is under investigation for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

Uses:
Treatment of moderate to severe dementia of the alzheimer’s type
Adverse Drug Reactions:
Confusion, dizziness, insomnia, agitation, hypertonia, cystitis
Drug-Drug Interactions:
Memantine+bupropion/+lactic acid/+calcium acetate = serum concentration of memantine is increased
Memantine+acetazolamide=Decreased excretion rate of memantine
