Flucinolone Acetonide: - drug acting on skin and mucous membranes and its side effects


MECHANISM OF ACTION:
fluocinolone acetanide is a cortico steroid to that binds to the glucocorticoid receptor. The receptor ligand complex translocate it self into the cell nucleus where it binds to the gluco corticoid responsive element .the DNA bound receptor then interacts with the basic transcription factor causing increase in the expression of target gene.
They have anti inflammatory action by inhibiting the arachidonic acid and controls the bio synthesis of prosta glandins and leuko trines. 

THERAPEUTIC USES:
Used in dermatology to reduce skin inflammation and relieve itching.

SIDE EFFECTS:-
  • Burning
  • Dryness
  • Redness at the application site
  • Blisters
  • Irritation around mouth
DRUG DRUG INTERACTIONS:
  1. Fluocinolone acetanide + aldsleukin = the anti neoplastic activity of aldsleukin decreases
  2.  Fluocinolone acetanide +ceritinib =hyperglycaemic activity of certinib increases
  3. Fluocinolone acetanide+hyaluronidase =the therapeutic activity of hyaluronidase can be decreased.
