MECHANISM OF ACTION
Ethionamide may be bacteriostatic or bactericidal in action, depending on the concentration of the drug attained at the site of infection and the susceptibility of the infecting organism. It is a nicotinic acid derivative. It undergoes intracellular modification and acts similar to isonazid. Isonazide inhibits the syntonent of the bacterial cell wall.hesis of mucoloic acids.
DRUG DRUG INTERACTION
• CYCLOSERINE: The risk or severity of adverse effect can be increased when Ethionamide is combined with Cycloserine.
• ETHANOL: : The risk or severity of adverse effect can be increased when Ethionamide is combined with ethanol.
