MECHANISM OF ACTION
Ethamylate is a haemostatic agent; also promotes angioprotective and proaggregant action. It stimulates thrombopoiesis and their release from bone marrow. Haemostatic action is due to activation of thromboplastin formation on damaged of PgI2 synthesis; it also facilitates platelet aggregation and adhesion that at last induces decrease and stop of hemorrhage.
DRUG DRUG INTERACTION
Ethamsylate has not shown any significant interaction with other medicines.
SIDE EFFECTS
• Headache
• Rahs
• Nausea
• Transient hypotension with i.v. injection
• Low blood pressure
THERAPEUTIC USES
• Drug helps in the prophylaxis and control og blood loss from small blood vessels as it comes under class of anti-hemorrhage medication
• Helps control abnormal menstrual bleeding in women
• Drug is used to treat women with heavy menstrual eriod or those who suffer from excessive bleeding due to an intrauterine contraceptivr device
