Ethamsylate-drug affecting blood formation ans its pharmacology


MECHANISM OF ACTION

Ethamylate is a haemostatic agent; also promotes angioprotective and proaggregant action. It stimulates thrombopoiesis and their release from bone marrow. Haemostatic action is due to activation of thromboplastin formation on damaged of PgI2 synthesis; it also facilitates platelet aggregation and adhesion that at last induces decrease and stop of hemorrhage.

DRUG DRUG INTERACTION
Ethamsylate has not shown any significant interaction with other medicines. 

SIDE EFFECTS
Headache
Rahs
Nausea
Transient hypotension with i.v. injection
Low blood pressure

THERAPEUTIC USES
Drug helps in the prophylaxis and control og blood loss from small blood vessels as it comes   under class of anti-hemorrhage medication
Helps control abnormal menstrual bleeding in women
Drug is used to treat women with heavy menstrual eriod or those who suffer from excessive bleeding due to an intrauterine contraceptivr device
