Gemifloxacin- antimicrobial drug and its therapeutic uses


INTRODUCTION-
Gemifloxacin is an oral broad spectrum quinolone antibacterial agent used in the treatment of the acute bacteria exacervation of chronic bronchitis and mild to
 moderate pneumonia.

 THERAPEUTIC USES-
* Used to treat bacterial infection.

SIDE EFFECTS-
* chest pain or thightness
* chills or fever
* rashes
* burning, numbness, tingling, painfull sensation

DRUG DRUG INTERACTION-
* Gemifloxacin+Dicoumarol=GEmifloxacin may increase the  anticoagulant activity of Dicoumarol
* Gemifloxacin+Didanosine=The serum concentration of Dedanosine can be decreased when combined with Gemifloxacin
* Gemifloxacin+Citalopram=Gemifloxacin may increase the QTc-prolonging activity of citalopram
