Ethylmorphine-Opioid Analgesic Drug and its pharmacology

MECHANISM OF ACTION
Ethylmorphine is metabolised by the river enzyme cytochrome P450 2D6 to morphine. The precise mechanism of morphine is unknown. Specific CNS receptors have been identified ad likely play a role in the expression of analgesic effect. Morphine first acts on the opoid receptors. The mechanism of respiratory depression involves a reduction in the responsiveness of the brain stem respiratory centers to increase in carbon dioxide tension and to electrical stimulation. Morphine binds to and inhibits GABA inhibitory interneurons. The inhibit the inhibiting pain inhibition pathway.
