NEOSTIGMINE MECHANISM OF ACTION

 NEOSTIGMINE
MECHANISM OF ACTION:

  •   neostigmine indirectly stimulates both nicotinic and muscarinic receptors by interfering with the breakdown of acetylcholine.
  •  neostigmine binds to the anionic and esteric site of cholinesterase and block the active site of acetylcholinsteraseso the enzyme can no longer breakdown the acetylcholin molecules.
  •  this allow for the threshold to be reached so a new impulse can be triggered in the next neurone.
  •  acetylcholin can bind to the receptors and trigger a muscular contraction.
